The Crab Fest Art Show highlights Kodiak's artists and their new work. This year I'm focused on collages, and I have new images--some flat and some 2-D. The show opens Friday, May 22, with a reception from 6:30-9:30 pm, and runs Saturday 12-6 and Sunday 12-4 at the Kodiak Inn Harbor Room. Come find new art to adorn your walls!
This year for the 3rd Annual Altered Book Art Show, I designed a book in memory of our neighbor, Russell. I incorporated pictures, i.d. cards, keys, and tools into one of his books to create a snapshot of how we knew him. Russell belonged to that era of men who came to Alaska in the early days and found their place out here. He lived alone and wanted to be left alone, and Alaska afforded him that.
Come see my latest watercolors this Saturday during the AAUW Christmas Bazaar. My booth is located in the Katurwik Room at the downtown Harbor Convention Center (next to Sutliff's). This is the smaller room upstairs, right off the lobby area. I'm the first booth on the left side as you walk in the room. Doors are open from 10 am - 4 pm. I've got new original watercolors, card packs, prints, small original works packaged in CD cases, and sale items.
Come see new artwork and meet the Gypsy Artists!
This time around, we have artwork by Bonnie and Jim Dillard, Chris Lynch, Kerry Kearns, Evelyn Wiszinckas, Cathy Cordry, Natasha Zahn Pristas, Liz Mitchell, & Wanda Scholze. The Gypsies are always on the move, so look for some of us at the Holiday Market at the Kodiak Inn, at AAUW in November, and at our signature Last Christmas Scramble Art Sale in December.
Celebrate with the Gypsies
First Friday Art Walk at Harborside Fly By, October 3, 5-7 pm.
I love all things Italy, so it was fun to visually record making limoncello. Can you smell the lemon zest?! I like the idea of recording daily life--and mine includes a lot of time having fun in the kitchen and dining with friends. These are small, 4 x 6 sketches, tinted with watercolor.
gyp · sy \'jip-se\ n. an independent who works with her hands, is inclined to an unconventional way of life, and moves or roams from place to place.
Join the Gypsy Artists for their debut show, Passion, Friday, February 7, from 5 -7 pm at the new Kodiak Public Library. This week, prior to the show, find a glimpse of their art in the display case inside the front doors of the library.
The Gypsy Artists recently joined forces to inspire one another and from the realization that "our passion for creating is what draws us together." Keeping to their gypsy credo, these artists are on the move and hope to host several shows this year at various venues. During this Friday's Art Walk, come see new art in a variety of media by Chris Lynch, Wanda Scholze, Evelyn Winzinckas, Kerry Kearns, Bonnie Dillard, Natasha Zahn Pristas, Liz Mitchell, & Jacquie Madsen.
Follow the First Friday map for an evening of art, and then head to Galley Tables from 7-8:30 at the Gerald C. Wilson Auditorium Drama Pod.
We are saving the best for last!
Come find art by Kerry Kearns, Chris Lynch, Natasha Pristas, Liz Mitchell, Wanda Scholze, Evelyn Wiszinckas, Jacque Madsen, Leann Conner, Bonnie Dillard's Art Club, Dave Conrad, and Mary Munk. We've got clothing, jewelry, wood work, prints, paintings, mosaics, and whatever else we can manage to haul from our studios.
We are re-creating the fun and cozy atmosphere of Kerry's art sales in previous years. Come Friday night from 5-8 pm to view great art, nibble appetizers, and hang out in good company. We'll be back Saturday from 10-3. Bring your friends for an arty night (or day) downtown. We've set up shop for just two days. We'll be in the Old Ton of Fun shopfront in the Orpheum/Rookery building. The door is around the corner of the building on the alley, sort of kitty corner from AC/Food For Less.
Need better directions? Go to the AC/Food for Less parking lot. Find the Rookery. Do NOT go in the main doors by the Rookery. Instead, go to the right, down the alley. There will be a storefront on your left, with a few steps up into the shop. Follow the noise and excitement!
My art show at the National Wildlife Refuge was furloughed last month, but I'm back now as part of a group show at
Harborside Fly-By. This is a First Friday event, but, lucky for us, our art is up for the entire month of November. Come see my watercolors as well as block prints and mixed media pieces by Liz Mitchell and Beverly Horn. It's a fun, eclectic show.
AAUW is only one day, so mark your calendars for Saturday, November 9!
This year, due to high school construction, the AAUW Bazaar is being held at the Kodiak Convention Center and the Kodiak Inn. Plan a little extra time for parking, and enjoy a day downtown. I am not sure which building my booth will be in yet, but I will have original watercolors and block prints, reproductions, card packs, single cards, and book marks. Doors open to the public at 10 am, on Saturday, November 9.
Come view my latest work during October's Art Walk, Friday, October 4, from 5 - 7 pm at the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge Center. I'll have original watercolors--inspired by my garden this summer-- as well as reproductions and collages. In addition, get a sneak preview of my work that is featured in the Refuge's new coloring book.
